Priory Lodge 6913 enjoyed a wonderful December Installation with the presence of PGJW W Bro Rob Hughes, representing the PGM W Bro Ray Guthrie and the Province.
W Bro Jon Watts was installed as the new WM after joining Priory Lodge from his mother lodge Cornucopia Lodge where he served as WM for a number of years and his family all kindly chose Priory Lodge as their new home when Cornucopia handed in their warrant shortly after Covid, and this has helped to further strengthen Priory Lodge which nearly faced the same end in early 2017. Lots of joining members and new members chose Priory during the pandemic through an online campaign and after Covid as well and it’s thanks to the hard work of the Somerset Freemasons provincial team as well for signposting people towards Priory Lodge in recent years. This was echoed during the toast to the Province at the festive board and when PGM W Bro Ray Guthrie was thanked last December at Installation during the toast to the PGM for his part in saving Priory Lodge when at the time he chaired the meeting which kept Priory Lodge moving forward.
W Bro Garry Watts is the new SW, and like his brother, WM W Bro Jon Watts, Garry is already a very experienced WM and he’s currently an active ProvGStwd for Somerset Freemasons. Bro Shayan Aziz is the new JW and also a joining member of Priory Lodge since Covid and his mother lodge is in Bath. Shayan works for Freemasonry in social media and as a content editor.
Immediate Past Master WBro George Pittaway has had a very successful year with thousands of pounds passed across to Butterflies Haven, an autism charity based in Keynsham (web Supports Families Affected By Autism | Butterflies Haven | Keynsham) and grants to Weston Hospice Care and The Jesse May Trust.
Over 50 brethren attended the Festive Board which was the popular unlimited hot buffet menu and it was enjoyed by everyone who attended. Over £300 was raised for charity from the raffle. Brethren from other provinces supported the evening as well including Bristol, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire.
